Please Note: Some items are not eligible for renewals.
You have plenty of things to worry about - renewing your library materials shouldn't be one of them. That's why we created automatic renewals. Now, eligible items will automatically renew themselves without you having to lift a finger.

Holds/requests override renewals! If another patron is waiting on an item and places a hold on it, the item will not renew itself.
However, if the library fills that hold request with another copy, there is a chance that you or a staff member can manually renew the item. The automatic renewal system tries to renew an item three days before it is due. If it can't, it won't try again even if the hold is filled - so that's your window for manual renewal.
If you're signed up for texts or email notifications you'll get a message letting you know what's due, what isn't, and how many renewals you have left on each of your items. You can also sign into your account any time to check on due dates and renewals.
If you have activated text and/or email notifications for your library account, you'll receive renewal notifications. If you have not then your items will still be renewed, but you won't be notified.
When an item that is renewable is almost due, our system will automatically renew it for you and send you an email or text letting you know. The due date advances the appropriate amount based on the material. So, if you have a book due on the 16th, the system will send you an email a few days in advance letting you know that your item is now due on the 30th.
All LCPL patrons are already signed up for automatic renewals! You may want to give us your email address or phone number to receive notifications, though.
If you do not yet receive email notifications, but would like to, simply send an email containing your library bar code to:
You can also ask to sign up for email or text notifications in person at any of our branches or over the phone.
Automatic renewal notices typically go out three days before an item is due. Even if the item can not be renewed, you should still receive a notice stating that the item is almost due.
If you have not received any email notices, give us a call. It could be that there's a typo in the email address we have on record for you, or maybe we have an old address on file.
